Boyles Ministry Newsletter

December 2006

Dear friends and family,

Merry Christmas!  I hope that you are all having a wonderful holiday season full of hope and cheer!  Things are a bit different down here, but we feel God’s love around us and that is what Christmas is all about.

We had our first visitors to Belize at the end of November.  My parents were able to come down for Thanksgiving.  It was great to get to see them and also nice to get to enjoy Belize in a different way.  We went to the zoo, “Old Belize,” and Xunanatunich, a Mayan ruin in west Belize.   We also decorated the house for Christmas.  We put a wreath on the door and decorated a small tree in the living area.  It was so nice to have them here.

There has been some progress where the land is concerned for the children’s home.  The documentation has been signed and delivered to the Ministry of Lands Department.  We are anxious for the land to be officially leased to the Baptist Churches of Belize.  Plans are tentative to start clearing the land the first of the year and begin construction as soon as possible.  Click here to see plans for the property.

My ladies English class is going well.  The ladies have asked to have class three days a week instead of two.   I feel like they are learning a lot.   They are starting to speak to each other in English during class which is so exciting!  Hopefully, they will be able to put it to use outside of the village.  They learn a memory verse every week in English and Spanish.  They work very hard to say it right and memorize it.

Jeff is staying busy with his Religious Studies class at the high school, teaching Sunday school at Mt. Zion, and working with the youth in San Juan.  He has the next three weeks off of school for Christmas break. He is having a difficult time with the hospital knowing where to best apply his talents. He is working one day a week and leaning more toward seeing stroke patients in their homes.  He feels that is where he can make the most difference with just one day a week.

Santa came to visit at the children’s Christmas party at church.  Ann Marie got to sit in his lap to tell him what she wanted for Christmas.  She was in her first Christmas play Sunday night.  She and the other children were so cute!  She came in holding a candy cane and grinning.  We were so proud!

We hope you all have a Happy New Year!

In Christ,

Jeff, Tiffany, and Ann Marie
