Boyles Ministry Newsletter

July 2007

Dear friends and family,

We have some fun news to share this month.  When Jeff works with the youth on Friday nights, a young lady by the name of Jocelyn is very helpful.  In my ladies English class, Anna helps me tremendously.  We have seen these girls mature over the last year.  They are passionate about church and their faith.  They are involved in their churches and have both helped teams with translating.  Two years ago, Anna did not pass the entrance exam into high school.  She has not been to school the last two years.  Her culture does not allow many options – you go to high school, you work, or you get married.  Her parents have not made her work.  She has basically been waiting to get married.  Jocelyn did not pass her exam last year or this year.  Her parents told her that if she did not get into high school this year, she would have to work in the banana farm.  The farms are not a good place for a 15 year old girl.  Jeff and I were broken hearted about her situation.

We heard about a new high school that is being built.  So we asked the girls if they would be interested in attending.  They both said they would be very interested.  It is difficult to tell you all that unfolded, but watching God work in this situation was amazing!  Everything fell into place.  The girls were numbers 99 and 100 to be accepted out of 100 in to the new school and without knowing it; we got them enrolled on the last day they were taking applications.  Romans 8:28 reminds us “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”  We know they have been blessed beyond measure.  Their futures took a drastic turn.

Last month’s newsletter really focused on the teams that we have had in the area.  I wanted to take the time this month to mention individuals.  There are many needs in Belize and individuals as well as teams trying to meet some of these needs.

Early in the summer, Rebecca Stafford came to Belize and stayed with Chester and Noelia Ritchie in their home in San Juan.  She came for a Spanish internship for college.  She chose Belize because she has come on mission trips the last two summers and wanted to practice Spanish while ministering to the people of San Juan.  Rebecca taught a ladies Bible study, worked with the youth, worked in the clinic, and helped in the feeding program.  She was very busy!

Judy Barnett’s team from ClearView Baptist Church worked in this area.  After her team left, Judy stayed with us in San Juan to work on learning Spanish.  Judy has been coming to Belize on mission trips for 7 years.  She has worked primarily in the southern region.   Last summer, two girls from San Roman went to the States with Judy and her husband Rick when their team left and stayed with her family for a month.  They are continuing to help this family with the expenses of high school.  We really enjoyed having Judy with us.  She made friends with a puppy and named her Blackie.  Unfortunately, Blackie decided after Judy left she still likes our porch!

Reneé Caldwell also stayed in San Juan at the Ritchie’s house.  She was here for six weeks.  She has been coming on mission trips to Belize for 8 years.  Reneé taught a ladies Bible study for the ladies of San Roman Village and Santa Rosa Village.  She also taught a class at Light of the Valley.  She helped during the crusade at Maya Mopan and helped work on construction at the new preschool.  We are grateful for Reneé and what she was able to do while she was here.

Never say, “I’m just one person what can I do?”  We love you all!
